Spitz

From OpenZaurus

See Spitz/Install for installation instructions.

Spitz is a DogName for SL-C3000, but when we started work on OpenZaurus 3.5.4.1 we decided to merge SL-C3000 (spitz), SL-C3100 (borzoi), SL-C3200 (terrier) into one machine just like it was done with C7x0 before. All Spitz machines are members of the Cxx00 family.

SL-C3000 is supported since OpenZaurus 3.5.3 - we used 2.4.20-crappix kernel from Sharp & Lineo and all stuff was installed on the first microdrive partition. The device was booting from flash and then performed a pivot_root into the microdrive. This procedure is not supported in OpenZaurus 3.5.4 because we decided to not use 2.4.20-crappix when we have a nearly ready 2.6.15 kernel.

Starting from 3.5.4.1 OE on the Spitz (including Borzoi and Terrier) platform supports the 2.6 kernel and can boot directly from microdrive (flash partitions are not used at all for storage).

Differencies between spitz submachines:

  • Spitz - SL-C3000 (PXA270, 16M Flash, 64M RAM, 4GB microdrive)
  • Borzoi - SL-C3100 (PXA270, 128M Flash, 64M RAM, 4GB microdrive)
  • Terrier - SL-C3200 (PXA270, 128M Flash, 64M RAM, 6GB microdrive)

Issues with restoring a NAND backup on SL-C3000

I had trouble restoring a NAND backup from CF. After putting it onto a SD card, everything worked just fine. --Sybren 11:24, 23 May 2006 (BST)
